Placements for teachers from the EU at Woodfield School
Woodfield School is an outstanding special needs school with Specialist School Status for PE and ICT. It offers places to 175 pupils aged 11 to 19 with a wide range of learning difficulties. The school has particular expertise in a range of teaching methods to meet the needs of pupils with moderate learning difficulties and on the autistic spectrum. The teachers are highly skilled in assessing each pupil’s individual level of development as they make steps towards greater independence. We work in close collaboration with other local Primary and Secondary schools.
The school works hard to ensure pupils are successful and celebrates achievement across the curriculum. It works closely in partnership with parents, as this is crucial in helping pupils make the best progress.
Woodfield Teaching School Alliance has been established as a National College Teaching School for two years. Our work is focused on ‘Exploring New Educational Landscapes’ leading the way to success through quality and research. We recruit trainee teachers, who are based at schools in our alliance. We have a comprehensive portfolio of professional training courses suitable for all professionals from teaching assistants to senior leaders. We work with other schools, to improve the learning and achievement of their pupils.
Research and classroom practice at Woodfield:
The development of training courses based on outstanding classroom practice together with research into what makes a positive impact on teaching and learning are at the core our work. On behalf of University College London / Institute of Education we also quality assure other schools to gauge to what extent they meet QA criteria for professional development.
Woodfield Teaching School Alliance will provide a certificate of attendance clearly describing the programme you have followed.

London – a truly international city:
London is a unique city. It displays a myriad of persona from the historic to the exotic. It has a multi-cultural character unmatched by any other city in the world, even New York. London offers music of every genre, numerous theatres, world-renown art galleries, free museums, restaurants and cuisine to meet everyone’s taste, stores to exhaust the most devoted of shoppers, beautiful parks throughout the city, historic buildings around every corner, days full of adventure, unrivalled night life.
Improve your English in Europe’s cultural capital:
An important element of all our international work has been to support other colleagues in the development of their English language skills. Not only is our school multilingual (pupils speak over fifty different home languages) we are also expert educators in communication. We offer you the opportunity to both interact and teach, using English. This will develop you as a teacher and will have an impact on your own pupils’ learning when you return home.
