As we are partnered with accredited ITT providers that hold good or outstanding Ofsted ratings, we are already approved to provide the full range of ITT courses. Therefore, we have been asked to submit our place requests for 2019-20 based on a realistic assessment of local need.
In addition, as Lead School we have to submit evidence supporting our place requests to demonstrate that our ITT provision is effective, robust in its assessment of trainees and accurate in its quality assurance procedures.
Primary School Direct is available in:
Secondary School Direct is available in the following subjects:
Drama with English
Modern Foreign Languages
School Direct has two routes into teaching:
Tuition Route (unsalaried)
Candidates are recruited to subjects and pay tuition fees to the university. They can either pay the fees direct to the university or apply for a training bursary from NCTL for their tuition fees. Trainee teachers are with the school for the year and will receive a very similar experience as those trainees on the salaried route.
If candidates are a graduate and have been working for three years in any career, School Direct (salaried) courses are available. This school-led option, candidates are selected directly by the school and teaching school. Trainees earn a salary during the training – this will be on the unqualified Teacher’s scale – this can be partly subsidised by funding from the DfE if the subject is a priority. The level of funding is dependent on the subject with priority subjects such as mathematics, physics and computing attracting up to £30,000 in London (subject to change for 2020-21). It is envisaged that as the school is also investing in the trainee teacher, that the place will lead to a teaching post.
Please can you use the Request for Places form to request places by Tuesday 20th June 2018.
Recruitment of trainee teachers for 2019-20 begins in October 2018.
